A robust data discovery protocol like XRD is sorely needed. XRD supports any type of service by using Linked Data patterns and is easily extended so that custom metadata descriptions (such as RDF, XDI, or POWDER) can be easily embedded and referenced. XRD has wide support in the OpenID community and is a fundamental foundational technology for many other standardization works in progress (XDI, next generation of XRI, next generation of OpenID, and others). It's for these reasons that I urge any voting member to vote YES for XRD. If you have any questions about XRD, or how XRD would benefit your work, please feel free to contact the XRI TC via the chairs and your question will be routed to a TC member most familiar with your particular needs.
